TIBETAN NATIONAL UPRISING DAY

TIBETAN UPRISING DAY

On 10th March 1959, Tibetans in Lhasa held huge protests against the Chinese
invasion of their country. In the ensuing 66 years,
the human rights situation for Tibetans in their homeland has deteriorated.

Tibetans suffer widespread discrimination, including forced relocations from their lands,
destruction of their monasteries, and severe punishments for speaking out.

Tibetans worldwide commemorate Tibetan Uprising Day to show their
determination for freedom is undiminished, and to stand in solidarity with Tibetans,
both in Tibet, and around the world.

Help us Save Tibet.
Join us in raising our voice for Tibetans.

 Annual General Meeting: 2014

Please join us for this years Annual General Meeting. All are welcome.

The business will be brief and then we will enjoy a film and share refreshments in classic
TAGWA style. Your support is, as always, both welcome and essential.

Courtesy of Dalai Lama in Australia  TAGWA will be screening the film
SUNRISE / SUNSET by the film maker Vitali Manski.
The film offers a glimpse into the life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at home, as
"the film crew enjoys a totally informal conversation about the essence of the Universe,
and the role an individual has to play in religion and in contemporary society."
Comments by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on "environmental consciousness,
trust between cultures and the widening gap between rich and poor,"
resonate as much today, as they did in 2008, when Sunrise/Sunset was filmed.

We would also like to invite nominations to the TAGWA committee.
If you are interested in joining the Board of TAGWA, please send your nomination to
the TAGWA Secretary: secretary@tagwa.org.au

We are a small group dedicated to doing our best, in order to make some inroads
into the hearts and minds of the community and the media.
We try to have fun on the way, and also, importantly, support the Tibetan community in Perth.
Advocating for the Tibetan cause is a long term effort,
and it is our friendships that sustain and encourage us on this journey.
We hope you will be able to set aside this time for the TAGWA AGM,
and we look forward to seeing you again.

All Welcome please join the event via our TAGWA facebook page
or email secretary@tagwa.org.au with your attendance details.

The AGM will be held on Sat 18 October, starting at 2.00PM
